Designworks was founded in 1978 as a small collaborative firm comprised of a core group of design professionals. Our structure has evolved the orgazational flexibility to easily associate with others from specialized fields. This allows us to generate very specific teams to match a wide range of project requirements.

Designworks has become know for its dedication to the highest level of design, from both an environmental and humanistic point of view. While involved in formal aesthetic design issues, we have also remained committed to an ecological approach to architecture, landscape architecture, and planning.

Designworks has long been advocates of alternative energy sources and the use of renewable, non-toxic and recycled materials in an effort to encourage environmental sensitivity. and reduce the ecological impact of human activity.

A fundamental aspect of the buildings and landscapes we create is to provide a much needed link between our direct experience of place and the natural and cultural systems with which we are inextricably linked. By this understanding, it is our hope that these spaces contain an intrinsic feeling that has the power to inspire the human spirit.
